mammoth networks is a facilities-based reseller for good reason

Mammoth Networks is putting the finishing touches on its private-line expansion project, adding equipment to the company's Points of Presence in the Western US. As a facilities-based reseller, Mammoth is filling a niche and acting as a common meet-point for multiple Tier I and Tier II carriers.

Mammoth's augment includes its POP in Denver CO at 910 15th St, in Seattle WA at 2001 6th Ave and in Sunnyvale CA at 1380 Kifer Rd. Each location is geared to support T1, DS3, OC3 and OC12. These circuits can then be cross-connected to other private-lines, directed over Mammoth's private network to another POP, or can be converted to Gigabit Ethernet as a VLAN.

The equipment added by Mammoth allows Service Providers and Enterprise customers to use best-available private-line services, which then traverse a Mammoth POP to another desired location. These private-line services can be Time Division Multiplexed (TDM), Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM), Metro Ethernet or even unlit fiber and SONET format. Mammoth accepts these lines into their POPs and then points the circuit to their customers in a desired format, including Multi-Protocol Label Switching, or MPLS.

"Our experience with facilities-based collocation allowed us to make this jump to private-line," states Brian Worthen, who oversees product development at Mammoth. "Our customers come to us because we can not only purchase the best private-line solution for them, we can bring those lines in from rural areas and convert them to a desirable format."

Worthen explains that their approach makes reselling other carriers a good fit - the company can reach into both metro and rural areas with any technology, convert that technology at their POP and then send to their customer privately. While other telecommunications companies are focusing on a handful of products, Mammoth is focusing on connectivity. Mammoth defines this approach as technology-agnostic, meaning they sell the best available circuit regardless of technology.

Facilities-Based Resellers purchase fiber connectivity from Carriers and add value to telecommunications lines by transporting them privately to common meet-points, where their customers can then pick up data traffic. Additional value is derived from services and protocols provisioned over those lines before the facilities-Based Reseller hands the circuit to their customer, including services such as MPLS or Voice over Internet Protocol, or VoIP.

Mammoth Networks is an aggregator of data services, serving fourteen Western states with their layer 2 DSL network and the contiguous lower 48 states with their private-line services. Mammoth enables its Partners by erasing the invisible lines of the telecommunications structure, and leveling the playing field for Internet Service Providers. The privately-held company is based in Gillette, Wyoming.
