mammoth networks reaches 10,000 circuit milestone

Mammoth Networks has announced the company has reached a milestone of 10,000 circuits on its wholesale data aggregation network. The circuits are a combination of ATM, DSL and Frame Relay connections delivered to more than 75 Service Providers in the company's eleven state coverage area.

Mammoth has experienced growth of more than 15% each month for the last year, citing demand for their DSL aggregation product and the company's ability to integrate rural connections into their network. The 10,000 circuit milestone was reached in March, 24 months after the company began operations.

"To be sure, we didn't anticipate the success we're seeing now," said Brian Worthen, who heads up product development at Mammoth. "We built Mammoth to fill a void, and have realized that this industry is smaller than we thought - word has traveled quickly."

Worthen explained that Mammoth rarely advertises, relying on a close-knit group of agents and a core customer base (termed Partners) to convert Service Providers to its wholesale platform. Mammoth has discovered its niche, providing services at the simplest layers of the telecommunications infrastructure. Mammoth allows its Partners to tailor services to meet their End User needs, whether it be managed Wide Area Networks (WANs), Voice over IP (VoIP) services, or for use on resold in a traditional ISP model.

Mammoth's initial design was simple - build a network for ISPs. The company knows that market well, having started as a retail ISP in Wyoming in 1994. Mammoth soon found that the network's versatility uncovered other opportunities, especially among providers of managed services and Competitive Local Exchange Carriers (CLECs) reselling telco phone service. Mammoth has also developed a private line platform to assist their Partners in finding cost-effective solutions to telecom.

"People walk into our office and are surprised to find out we have a network with more than 50 DS3s and OC3s in eleven states," commented Jeremy Malli, Network Engineer for Mammoth. "There are folks in our home town that still think we fix computers."

Mammoth's private network can currently support 57,000 data loops, and continues to expand circuit volume and size to meet demand, most recently completing a fiber ring connecting their network cores. The company operates network cores in Billings MT, Casper WY, Denver CO, and Seattle WA, with a tertiary core in Phoenix AZ. Mammoth continues to expand to new markets, most recently in North Dakota and Minnesota, and has plans to start covering parts of Iowa.

Mammoth Networks is an aggregator of data services serving eleven Western states. Mammoth's footprint reaches more than 745 cities and towns, and almost 12,000 subdivisions and business parks. Mammoth enables its Partners by erasing the invisible lines of the telecommunications structure, and leveling the playing field for Internet Service Providers. The privately-held company is based in Gillette, Wyoming.
